2009 Gaming Roundup

For the second year running I’ve decided to round up my gaming year….

Gamerscore & Other Stats

I started the year on 23,285gs and have jumped to 45,445gs that’s over 21k, I only managed an increase of 8k the year before! I’ve got the full 1000 out of 3 games this year, but none of them are worth shouting about.

My completion rate has gone down a little but since I last blogged about it, I’m down to 45.3% but that I think that’s more because I’ve loaded up games that I have not even got round to starting properly yet.

Game of the Year

Winner – Modern Warfare 2 / Runner up – FIFA 10

MW2This was a tough one for me, I’ve played some really good games including Fallout 3, Red Faction: Guerrilla, Batman -Arkum Asylum, FIFA 10 & Forza Motorsport 3 but Modern Warfare 2 tops the list. Although the Single Player wasn’t as difficult the game was as much fun as COD4 and I am totally obsessed with the Multiplayer and I’ll keep going back to it through 2010.

Surpirse of the Year

Winner - Batman – Arkum Asylum / Runner up – Dead Space

Batman AAI knew nothing about this game until the demo came out, and within a few minutes of playing it, I knew this was a game I needed to get. It was the best Single Player I had played for a while and I just loved everything about the game, the audio was fantastic and I really enjoyed solving the riddles (which I need to go back and finish off). Dead Space was also a nice surprise, I love a game that makes me jump out of my skin and this did the job!

Biggest Disappointment

Winner - Prototype / Runner up – The Force Unleashed

Prototype

Prototype was… just a bit pants it’s a shame really beacuse the first cut scene is brilliant but after that falls a bit flat for me. Most annoying is the fact I got 30 points from it and now has a massive 97% gamerscore missing from it. I expected a bit more from The Force Unleashed and I had no problem putting down after a few hours play. I still have it though and I may get back into it at some point and complete one playthrough.

What I’m looking forward to in 2010

Mass Effect 2Splinter Cell ConvictionSplit SecondBioshock 2

There is so much to look forward to next year, 3 out of the 4 games everyone will have heard of but Split Second might surprise a few people, due out early in 2010  this looks like it could turn out to be a really fun racer. there will be loads more to come but that will keep me going for a good while.

Now it’s your turn

How was gaming for you in 2009? What was your favourite game. Which one could you not wait to get rid of? What has you most excited for the coming year? Discuss….
