The second week of my Marathon adventure is over, and I’m feeling a lot more positive than the first week.
My first run was on Monday afternoon, it was a wet and miserable day but I was really in the mood for running, I set out across the river to turn on to the river path, as I went towards an underpass I noticed a large puddle in the middle, thinking I could get round it I carried on. Imagine my horror as I found myself ankle deep in water, what an idiot!
The rest of the run felt pretty good, I managed to keep to my 10 minute a mile pace and felt relatively pain free.
Other commitments meant I had to run the next day too, it was pretty uneventful but it was another 3 miles under my belt.
When it got to Thursday I just felt like going for a run, so I did, another 3.5 miles!
To finish the week off I attended my very first ParkRun! My local one is in Bromley at Norman Park. I was nervous at first but I quickly settled into my rhythm and before I knew it we were done! I got a bit overexcited running with lots of people so I ended up running quicker than I should of done, so in the end I hit a PB of 27:50 (since I’ve been using a Garmin anyway). My ParkRun time came in at 28:29 and I finished 302/491. Now of course I have to do 50 of them to get one of the cool t-shirts!
I’ve covered 13 miles this week, I have some aches and pains but I don’t run until Tuesday, though I’m tempted to Cross Train next week just to help me build up, but we’ll see.
