Training Update – Week 4

So, I’m 4 weeks in to my training for the London Marathon. Since I last posted I stopped running as I had pain in my shin so decided to cut back and do some cross training on the Elliptical trainer, it’s boring as hell but I at least kept active. Time got the better of me at the start of last week including my Garmin Forerunner 220 breaking! Thankfully the staff at Runners Need Victoria were great and I had a replacement the next day.

I hit the road early on the 6th, it was the coldest morning for a while typically but it was a lovely clear morning too, My first two miles splits were separated by only .06 seconds which was very consistent, I managed 5k pain free in 29 mins.

Saturday saw me complete my second ParkRun in Bromley, I didn’t feel hugely energetic and it was really muddy too, but somehow I finished 16 seconds quicker than my first attempt and scored a PB 5k! – What was encouraging was that if I hadn’t had got caught up in the crowd at the back I would have been sub 27 mins, so that’s my aim for this Saturday!

I was in two minds about a run the next day, but I was so tired I needed something to pick me up so I went for it. Beckenham is a lovely place to live but for running its tough. Trying to find a route without a hill is practically impossible, but it is good for training so I embraced the hills and did 4 miles.

Things are going well at the moment, fingers crossed for some more progress!
