I got to work at 7 O’clock on Saturday morning (!) I was doing overtime so it was kinda of worth it, but to be honest i had two much better things on my mind…

Danny Wallace Book Signing

@ the Danny Wallace Book event “Friends Like These” came out on the July 3rd and I just love these sorts of books, so it was great that the Man Himself was going to do a reading at Waterstones in Piccadilly. I got there about 2:30 to a get a good seat though most were gone by the time I got there.

The talk itself was really good, DW showed us some pictures and read from the book, then did a Q&A. During this a bloke in the middle of the room asked when DW had last been ID’d as he had when trying to buy a shovel in Homebase… supposedly you need to be 18!

To set the story straight he rang Homebase in Guilford put the phone on loudspeaker and checked it out, it was true! He then asked for two and hung up, it was all really funny.

Signed Danny Wallace Book

I got a picture with DW and he also signed my book for me, I should have thought and brought “Yes Man” with me but never mind. Click on the pictures for a larger view..

So that was great fun, but then it was time to rush home for the next event…

What Happened to Doctor Who???

The Doctor & Donna

As it turns out, nothing! Though it was the end of the Line for Donna, who did save the world. I though it was a really good episode and I am particularly looking forward to seeing the return of the Cyberman at Christmas. If you missed it last night, it’s now on the BBC iPlayer.

Big Noise

So the housemates are in, and they are all women!! This should make things intresting until tomorrow night when 1 bloke goes in, this could be heaven (or hell) for this bloke but we’ll have to wait and see.

The Housmates

The first housemates to enter the house were 18-year-old twins Amanda and Sam who were booed. They were followed by 60-year-old Lesley, a member of the Women’s Institute and a retired head-hunter

The next housemate, Charley, 21who is the cousin of footballer Kieran Richardson, was also booed as she entered the house. Pink-haired Tracey from Cambridgeshire claims she has collected carrier bags for 30 years and has never used a computer.

Student Chanelle, 19, admits to modelling herself on Victoria Beckham. Shabnam, 22, describes herself as “full of life, vivacious, nuts, passionate, inimitable and striking”. Others included 19-year-old Emily from Bristol who is a Tory voter and considers herself right-wing. Laura, 23, a nanny from South Wales was cheered as she blew the crowd kisses and gave high-fives to those waiting behind the barriers.

LauraThe ninth housemate to enter the house was Nicky from Watford.
The 27-year-old was born in Mumbai, India and adopted at the age of one. Her pet hates are “spongers, scroungers and nose-picking”. The final housemate to go in was 53-year-old Carole. The born and bred Londoner got the loudest cheer of the evening./p>

I have to Say Laura is my favourite at the moment, mainly because she looks like Peter Kay!

Big Brother is Back

bb.jpg

Every year I manged to end up doing this! Big Brother is back with a whole new set of freaks, the house has been redesigned the rumours have already started about who is going in to the house and Channel 4 need to apologise about the Racism row, it all seems to be going on in the forums on the Channel 4 website, I just had a quick look, there are over 2000 people on there as I write this!

No doubt there will be some controversy this year, (how will they deal with the Smoking ban on Jult 1st?) and despite people saying they won’t be watching it they will be, it will be all over the papers for reason or another, let the games begin….

Living The Dream…

Well not really, but we were really looking forward to today, our offical Neighbours tour! We wrere told at the start that we wouldn’t be able to see much of the street because they were filming, but that we would go there anyway.

Our drive down there had us watching lots of classic music videos of past stars. Our first stop was the school used as Erinsborough High for our first cheesy photo opportunity. Secondly it was off to the actual studios, our guide chanced it by going in, when all of a sudden Dr. Karl Jumped on our bus! We were taken round to the Carpenters Cars and Grease Monkeys where we got have photos and a chat with the man himself, once that was over it was back on the bus to Ramsay Street.

Once we arrived there you could see how small the street actually was (there were only 6 houses) and again by chance in groups of about six we were allowed to walk up the street and see the houses and have our last photos with the Ramsay Street sign. The guide gave us some spoilers and some inside info and then took us back to city whilst we watched classic epiosodes….

Tonight is our final night in Melbourne, we really like it here nd if we had known we would have mayve stayed for a couple of more days. It’s back to Sydney tomorrow for our days by the beach which will be really nice. I’m sure Hugh is getting all nervous now…..
