We’ve had three brilliant days in Sydney - our hotel was fantastic and made a nice change from hostels :)
We went shoppin on Oxford Street and then to Manly on Thursday - paddled in the sea - it was a bit warmer than at home! Yesterday we went to the zoo and had our picture taken with some really grumpy Koalas - We are just at the airport now and willbe boarding our flight to Melbourne in about 10 mins, hopefully we’ll be able to do a bigger update from there….

The Next Morning…

We eventually found hotel, it turns out that there are two streets that have the same name very close by! We ended up at the wrong one, but our very nice cab driver helped us get to the right place! It’s a nice hotel and we have just had breakfast, we are off out shopping today, much to A’s delight ;). We are most excited about tomorrow as we are off on the Neighbours tour! We have booked on the special tour where you get to meet one of the cast and you also recieve a special souveneir. We reckon we’ll end up meeting someine very random but hopefully it will be someone we recognise!

The sun has finally come back which is typical as we are leaving in about an hour! We finally got to see a little bit of the scenery yesterday - the mists leared long enough for us to find a waterfall and lots of trees but by the time we got to the Three Sisters they had vanished again!

We’re heading back to Sydney this morning and are planning to visit Manly and the Zoo amongst other things (oh yes, and I’m going to drag Dave off for a day of shopping on Oxford Street :) )

We head to Melbourne on Saturday and are really looking forward to visiting the Neighbours set! We want to meet Harold and Dr Karl … and Sky (well, D wants to meet Sky… can’t think why?!)

The Blue mountains has lots of lovely cafes and restaurants, the people are very friendly and our hostel is quality, but the weather is minging! You wouldn’t actually know that there were mountains here! We are still having a really nice time though and there are lots of things to keep us entertained, like the Internet, pool tables and now wine ;)
Hello Dad if you ever actually find the blog! Also this is where we are currently staying in the Blue Mountains, we’ll blog more about the posh hotel we are staying at in Sydney tomorrow

The Blue Mountains

We’ve just arrived at the Blue mountains and its really nice. We are staying at the YHA in Katoomba, we’re very impressed, especially as we have just filled our bellies with some lovely food :)
Katoomba has lots of orignal buildings from the 1930’s and it makes the area look really nice, we are off out soon to do a bit of sightseeing so we’ll add some more to this later.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

G’day! We are into our second day in Sydney, it’s currently 36C! We are staying in a hostel near Central Station, a bit different to tokyo but still nice. We have two more nights here and then it is off to the Blue Mountains for 3 nights.

We had a bit of an adventure getting here from the airport, we were hussled into the first bus that was there and it was a n absolute deathtrap! We survived and are still here to tell the tale :)
We saw the bridge and opera house at sunset last night and had dinner in a pizza place with a view of the harbour - very nice and we got to catch up on Neighbours while we ate!

Probably won’t get too many chances to upload photos, but we will still be able to check the site out and both of our mobiles work so you will be able to text us.

p.s. does anyone remember Brad from Neighbours - he’s working on reception here!!

Tokyo Disneyland

Tokyo DisneyWhat happens when you mix Tokyo and Disney? Absolute madness! Despite this A and I made the 45 minute journey accross the city to experience it all. One piece of advice, buy your tickets in advance, we ended up having to wait over an hour to get in. We have sunburn as proof!

Once we had something to eat we decided to try and get on some rides, for most of the big ones you had to wait up to 3 hours, not something we wanted to do, so we opted for the teacups, two simulators and two shows, we also got to see the Halloween parade as well.

We had a really good time, it was just a shame we couldn’t get on all the rides, we think its half term as well over here because it was absolutely packed! This is our last night here as we head off to Sydney tomorrow. Tokyo has been brilliant, we would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone who has ever thought about coming. We are going to do a little bit of shopping tomorrow morning before heading off to the airport.

This was a band that had just started playing as we entered the main shopping area of Disney, they were really good and I was very lucky to get this photo….

Day One

We have already done lots of Tokyo and its getting to about 11am here. Getting around is a lot easier than people have been telling us (Paul Brennan - There are english signs everywhere!) We are in the Apple shop in Ginza writing this, its a bit of a tradition as this blog has now been edited in New York, London & now Tokyo stores!

We are now heading off to the Sony Building, will update some pictures in a few hours. (you lot back home are not even up yet!)

6 Hours Later….

Playing PS3It’s now 10:10 at night here and we have just got back from Shibuya, a place where all the cool Japanese kids go for shopping food and general Madness. We found a T.G.I Fridays and had a really nice meal had a good look around and have just got back to the hotel. Amanda is very impressed with Japanese Fashion, especially the shoes! I entered a Napster competition at Tower Records today for god knows what but I lost and got a sticker :), oh yes and a glowstick, will be annoying A with that at 2am ;)

We’re Here!

The View

Dave: It’s currently 6:42 in the morning in Tokyo and due to Jet Lag etc we have decided to get up and go out. The journey over was good, we got through customs easily but we had to wait 3 hours at the airport for our Friendly Limousine bus to the hotel. I have never seen such an efficient bus service in my life! The Hotel is lovely and we are staying on the 31st Floor. The best bit about our Room? Heated toilet seats!

Amanda: Hello eveyone - we can see Mt Fuji from where we are sitting right now and Tokyo Tower is about a minutes walk away. As D said the hotel is very nice - I have never seen such a high tech toilet … it took me 5 minutes to work out how to flush it!! The bits of Tokyo we’ve seen so far are all very futuristic - lots of neon, walkways and train lines at all different levels so it all looks a bit space aged! Today we are going to try to get to Ginza, Asakusa and Shibuya.

1 Day to go….

Japanese Currency

We feel quite rich today. We have 64,000 yen for out short time in Tokyo. We are a little bit nervous about going but I am sure once we arrive at our hotel and get out and have a look around we’ll be fine. We have had conflicting information as to whether our mobiles will work, so if you try to contact us and can’t get through you can still e-mail us or comment and the blog and we will be able to contact you like that.

The JNTO website is very useful and we have printed some good guides off so we should have a great time out there. Am off to meet my old man for lunch soon then I have a few things to finish off, as well as winding them all up and then that’s it!

Today’s Japanese word is… Sayounara which means Goodbye….

2 Days to go….

Tokyo Weather

The weather has been horrible today and it turning at just the right time… I won’t miss this!
I checked out the weather in Tokyo today and at the moment its about the same as here but when we arrive the sun will be out! We still have a bit to do tonight but once that has been done we are all set to go! I’ve annoyed the lads at work enough now and they will be glad to get rid of me!

Today’s Japanese phrase is… Kore wa ikura desu ka? which means How Much is this?
